Q & A with Mike Rinkor, Owner of EconoLock

Mike, how did you get into this line of business?

I became interested in locks when I locked 
myself out of my own house about 30 years ago. I was curious about how locks worked and what it would take to defeat them. I had friends and family who were already in the locksmith field so I tried to learn as much as I could from them. 

Since I enjoyed working with locks and I had always wanted to own my own business, 
I started doing lock work part time while still working as a Reno police officer. In 1998, we made the decision to move to Novato from Reno and start a full time business as a locksmith.

Mike, how do you feel about keeping people safe?


I get a lot of satisfaction out of making people feel safer. Everyone 
deserves to feel safe in their home and I am glad to contribute to that.

Locksmithing is a lot like my last job as a police officer. Each call that I go out to is different and the people are never the same. I find that I am still able to learn new things all the time.
